Acton
Forum has worked in partnership with London Museum Transport on a Digital
Photography Project within the scope of the Community Capacity Project. We,
Acton Community Forum, taught our learners how to use, understand the concept
of digital camera, and a range of practice in the open at South Acton and its
suburb.
After
gaining the basic and fundamental techniques of the digital photography, they
went to the Depot to practise their new skills as blossoming digital
photographers. Community Curator Catherine showed them the ropes while Jon Burnett was making the tea in the new kitchen in
the Lecture Room at the Museum Depot. The group got to walk around the stores
again, this time with camera in hand to snap away at the various objects.
The learners had the opportunity to see the original posters that they had
selected on their first visit to the London Transport Museum depot. Everyone
got the chance to have their photo taken with their favourite posters on
display. They went for a wander around the depot, trying new things and getting
to grips with their flashes as they explored the signs, buses and trams before
having a well-earned sit down in a fully restored early Metropolitan Line tube
train. It was one of the best experience that learners from Acton Community
forum have had experienced.

Today I have initiated my Monday afternoon IT class students to the principles of digital photography. For the first time, we left the class behind us and used the open air to take some nice picture. Then showed them some websites where they can upload and how to sell their pictures. Then we went throught YOUTUBE. It was very exciting to spread the knowledge to people who want to learn mor and more. They make me very happy.
